If you try to install Metacompess amd IISKeeper on x64
systems you may encounter the problem. These filters are
x32 applications and IIS prohibits the start of them.
Application pools of IIS have the setting which allow of
using x32 applications, but it is turned off by default.

What may you do?
Look at the folder C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\. There
is a VBS script named adsutil.vbs. This script
can change any variable in metabase of IIS
Write two CMD (or BAT) files:

Disable32.cmd
adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/appPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64
0

Enable32.cmd
adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/appPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64
1

That's all. You may use MetaCompress and IISkeeper
without restrictions after running Enable32.cmd
This is working on IIS 7 too, but IIS 7 has GUI interface
for tuning of these settings.
